Our youngest students start with us at the age of 11, transferring from our family group of primary schools in Crawley. At present we have approximately 1350 pupils, with some 180 in the Sixth Form. In addition, we are also an Adult Education College and we offer courses to up to 1800 adult learners throughout the college year.
The college is large and expanding, which is ample proof of our growing popularity and success within the Crawley community.
We aim to provide high quality education to all of our students. To that end we are committed to employing well-qualified and talented teachers in order to ensure successful learning. We are also fortunate in having a strong team of support staff to assist our teachers in the development of our students.
We want every one of our students to achieve their potential so we concentrate on the individual and set high expectations whilst also making sure that everyone has the right support structure in place for their needs.
Thomas Bennett Community College was first opened in September 1958, on a large site on the south-west of Crawley. There were originally three main buildings located on two sites, about 1/4 of a mile apart.
The new single site Thomas Bennett opened in September 2005. The campus site has some outstanding mature trees [mainly oaks] and looks out towards Tilgate Forest and the new K2 Crawley Leisure Centre at one end of the site.
We were designated a Sports College in 2003, and are now the Sports College for Crawley, managing a partnership of schools for sport in Crawley. As a Sports College, and with access to all the fantastic sports facilities at K2 Leisure Centre, we are in a tremendous position to provide sporting opportunities to all our students.
The school has been awarded the School Achievement Award and the Sportsmark Award.
We have also gained the prestigious Artsmark Gold Award - a fantastic achievement and just reward for the brilliant work in all areas of the arts in the college.
The Thomas Bennett Community College has been an established part of the Crawley community for nearly 50 years. The aim of this website is to allow parents, current and past students, governors and other interested parties to keep in touch with the work we are doing.
