Year 7 ~ Drama
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Introduction to Drama: Students will have a broad introduction to the basic drama skills including still image, thought tapping, mime etc.
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Stanislavski: Students will learn about the work of the Drama Practitioner Stanislavski. They will learn about Naturalistic drama and Stanislavki's system for actors
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Storytelling: Students will learn about different methods of story telling focusing on plot, narration and dramatic structure
Spring Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Script Work: Students will learn to work with scripts including blocking, line learning, stage directions and rehearsal exercises.
Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Technical Theatre & Improvisation: Students will practice improvisation skills. They will also be introduced to using lights, sound, props etc within their work
Summer Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Physical Theatre: Students will focus on using Physical Theatre to tell a story and will look at representing objects, colours etc.
Year 8 ~ Drama
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Greek Theatre: Students will learn about the origins of theatre. They will learn how to use a Greek chorus within their work and also learn about the story of the Minotaur.
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Masks: Students will have the opportunity to make masks and create a performance with them in. They will learn the 'rules' of performing successfully in a mask and will discover how to use body language to tell a story.
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Physical Theatre: Students will practice using physical theatre to tell a story.
Spring Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Holes: Linking with the English curriculum students will explore the book Holes from a practical point of view focusing on the characters in the story and the themes covered.
Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Drugs: Students will explore the different types of illegal drugs. They will look at their long and short term effects, why people take drugs and they will role play different real life situations.
Summer Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Brecht: Students will learn about the work of the drama practitioner Bertolt Brecht. They will learn about his aims for theatre and will practice using different distancing techniques including using placards and reportage.
Year 9 ~ Drama
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Boal and Political Theatre: Students will learn about the work of drama practitioner Augusto Boal. They will learn about the 3 different types of theatre that he created and they will use these to create political pieces of theatre.
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Melodrama: Students will learn about the history of Melodrama, this will include working with stock characters and looking at the famous story of 'Maria Marten and The Murder in the Red Barn'.
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Richard III: Linking in with the English curriculum and the SATs examinations students will study the play through practical workshops.
Spring Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Kindertransport: Students will learn about the historical event of the Kindertransport and use drama to explore the impact on the children involved.
Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Listen To Your Parents: Through the play written by Benjamin Zephaniah students will complete practical activities based around the text and the issue of domestic violence.
Summer Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Stage Fighting: Students will take part in a number of practical workshops that will teach them the basics of stage fighting and how to carry out moves safely and realistically.
Year 10 ~ Drama GCSE
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Introduction to GCSE: Students will learn about the GCSE drama course and how it is assessed. They will have a chance to try out practically the skills they will have to use in their practical examination next year. Devising: Students will devise a piece of drama using the skills learnt at the beginning of the half term to be performed at drama evening
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Masks: Students will be introduced to working with masks. The SOW covers using the 'states of tension' and 'centre of personality' to create a masked character. Students will also look at communicating non-verbally. Soap Opera & Dramatic Structure: Students will learn about how to structure a piece of drama through the genre of soap opera. Workshops will include naturalistic acting skills
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Brecht: Students will learn about the work of drama practitioner Bertolt Brecht and how to distance an audience from a piece of drama in order to make them think about what they are watching.

Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Pierrepoint & Evaluation: In preparation for next half term's theatre visit students will follow a scheme of work that looks back at Albert Pierrepoint, England's last hangman focusing on evaluating drama.
Summer Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Blood Brothers: Students will ready the play 'Blood Brothers' by Willy Russell and complete practical activities based on the text and it's themes and issues including adoption and superstition. Devising: Students will use the skills they have learnt this half term to create a piece of drama to be performed at Year 10 Drama Evening which takes place at the end of the year.
Year 11 ~ Drama GCSE
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Relationships: Students will complete Unit 1 of Paper 1 from the Edexcel syllabus which is examined through practical workshops. The unit of work is based on Relationships.
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Relationships: This using will be finished at the beginning of this half term. Can You Keep A Secret: Students will begin Unit 2 of Paper 1 from the Edexcel GCSE syllabus which will involve them reading the play by Winsome Pinnock and then complete practical workshops based on the text.
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Can You Keep A Secret: Practical work and coursework will be completed at the beginning of this half term. Paper 2 Preparation: Students will begin to prepare for their practical examination and workshops will focus on acting and devising skills.
Spring Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Paper 2: Students will be preparing for their practical examination at the end of this half term. They will be working in small groups to devise a piece for performance.
Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Coursework: All written coursework will be finished during the lessons in this half term.

Year 12 ~ Theatre Studies/Drama AS Level
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Unit 1: Exploration of Drama & Theatre (6341): Students will begin to study their first play from this unit. Areas of study include plot, language, form and structure, visual aural and spatial elements and contextualising the play. Practical activities will assess use of voice and physical actions and understanding of the themes and issues covered in the play.
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Unit 1: Exploration of Drama and Theatre (6341): Students will continue with their study of the play Crap Dad. This unit will culminate in a performance at 6th Form Drama Evening. Students will then begin to study the 2nd play, 'Five Kinds of Silence'.
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Unit 1: Text Exploration of Drama and Theatre (6341): Students will continue their study of the play 'Five Kinds of Silence'. The deadline for all written coursework for this unit is at the end of this half term.
Spring Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Unit 2: Text in Performance (6342): Students will be rehearsing for an examined performance of a scripted play.

Summer Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Unit 3: text In Context (6343): Lessons will be used to prepare for the written exam in June/July. Revision will include analysing how the students prepared as actors for their performance in unit 2 and how they were directed. Students will also attend a live performance during this half term which they will have to comment on in their exam.

Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Unit 1: Exploring Skills for Performance. Students perform a scripted piece and assess their acting skills. They then follow a programme of different workshops in order to improve their acting and technical skills.
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Unit 1: Exploring Skills for Performance. Students continue to improve their skills and assess how these skills are developing through practical workshops and written coursework.
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Unit 2: Planning for an Event. Students plan a performance and series of workshops for a local primary school. They keep a record of their planning decisions and hand this in as coursework.
Spring Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Unit 1: Exploring Skills for Performance. Students perform a scripted piece to assess their skills development since the start of the course. They also assist GCSE performers with technical skills.
Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Unit 3: Performing to a Commission. Students respond to a commission set by the exam board and develop an examined performance to meet the needs of this commission. Students can choose to either offer acting or technical skills as their specialism.
Summer Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Preparation for A2 Performing Arts. An introduction to the Performing Arts industry.
Year 13 ~ Performing Arts / Production A2 Level
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Unit 4: Employment Opportunities in the Performing Arts. Students learn about the variety of employment opportunities in the performing arts, giving them an understanding of possible vocational routes.
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Unit 4: Employment Opportunities in the Performing Arts. Students pick a vocational area that they are interested in and organise an event to gain practical experience of this career. They present their work as a portfolio of their experience.
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Unit 5: Advanced Performance Practice or Unit 6: Advanced Production Practice. Students choose to specialise in either performance or production skills and gain a thorough understanding of these skills by organising a performance.
Spring Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Unit 7: Production Delivery. Students will have the opportunity to develop, rehearse and deliver an entire performance as either an actor or technician. This will result in an examined performance.
Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Unit 7: Production Delivery. Students continue to prepare for and take their performance exam.

Year 12 ~ Performing Arts BTEC Level 2 Diploma
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Acting assignment A - Pupils are introduced to a series of workshops that will improve their vocal and movement skills. They are then put these skills into practise by performing a scripted piece. Business assignment A - Pupils research the areas of business in the performing arts industry and make a presentation of their findings.
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Acting assignment B/Devised A - Pupils devise a 20 minute performance based on a stimulus from the teacher to help y11 with their devised pieces for their exam. They evaluate the performance and keep a log book of all the different conventions used and take part in a Q&A session with y11. Crewing A/B. Pupils are introduced to the technical aspect of the theatre. They learn and take on a backstage role in a performance evening. Scripted A - Pupils research and take part in pantomime workshops which teach them how to use pantomime skills for the stage. They perform a pantomime at the Christmas event. They evaluate the process and the performance and set themselves targets.
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Business B - Pupils are introduced on how to Budget and Market for a performing arts event. They will work with an imaginary budget and take charge of marketing an event in school. Devised B - Pupils learn about Theatre in Education and learn about some of the theatre practitioners of TIE. They then devise a performance for
Spring Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Scripted B - Pupils learn about the theatre practitioner Brecht and take part in a series of workshops that introduce them to his ideas about theatre. They then work on a script using methods and ideas from Brecht.
Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: The Performing Production Process - Pupils learn about how to organise an event. They then organise it, each having different roles and run it, being in charge on the night.
