Drama
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Greek Theatre: Students will learn about the origins of theatre. They will learn how to use a Greek chorus within their work and also learn about the story of the Minotaur.
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Masks: Students will have the opportunity to make masks and create a performance with them in. They will learn the 'rules' of performing successfully in a mask and will discover how to use body language to tell a story.
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Physical Theatre: Students will practice using physical theatre to tell a story.
Spring Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Holes: Linking with the English curriculum students will explore the book Holes from a practical point of view focusing on the characters in the story and the themes covered.
Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Drugs: Students will explore the different types of illegal drugs. They will look at their long and short term effects, why people take drugs and they will role play different real life situations.
Summer Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Brecht: Students will learn about the work of the drama practitioner Bertolt Brecht. They will learn about his aims for theatre and will practice using different distancing techniques including using placards and reportage.
