Drama GCSE
Autumn Term 2007 ~ First Half Term: Introduction to GCSE: Students will learn about the GCSE drama course and how it is assessed. They will have a chance to try out practically the skills they will have to use in their practical examination next year. Devising: Students will devise a piece of drama using the skills learnt at the beginning of the half term to be performed at drama evening
Autumn Term 2007 ~ Second Half Term: Masks: Students will be introduced to working with masks. The SOW covers using the 'states of tension' and 'centre of personality' to create a masked character. Students will also look at communicating non-verbally. Soap Opera & Dramatic Structure: Students will learn about how to structure a piece of drama through the genre of soap opera. Workshops will include naturalistic acting skills
Spring Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Brecht: Students will learn about the work of drama practitioner Bertolt Brecht and how to distance an audience from a piece of drama in order to make them think about what they are watching.

Summer Term 2008 ~ First Half Term: Pierrepoint & Evaluation: In preparation for next half term's theatre visit students will follow a scheme of work that looks back at Albert Pierrepoint, England's last hangman focusing on evaluating drama.
Summer Term 2008 ~ Second Half Term: Blood Brothers: Students will ready the play 'Blood Brothers' by Willy Russell and complete practical activities based on the text and it's themes and issues including adoption and superstition. Devising: Students will use the skills they have learnt this half term to create a piece of drama to be performed at Year 10 Drama Evening which takes place at the end of the year.
